12:00. OPENING OF THE COSTUME RENTAL STAND
Location: 1 Plaza del Castillo
The empty streets of Ciudad Rodrigo already provide the perfect setting for travelling back in time to the 14th century, but with balconies filled with banners and the streets fully decorated, there is still one thing missing to make you feel completely immersed in the Middle Ages. If you do not yet have a costume, do not miss the opportunity to rent an authentic period costume at a special price.
You can rent one directly from the large stand in Plaza del Castillo, or, if you do not want to miss out on your favourite costume, you can reserve it in advance on their website and pay when you collect it from the stand.

The Mirobrigense “Dámaso Ledesma” Choir is a musical ensemble with a long tradition in Ciudad Rodrigo, associated with numerous cultural, religious and festive events in the city. Its name pays tribute to Dámaso Ledesma, a musician from Ciudad Rodrigo and a renowned composer and collector of Salamanca folklore. For decades, the choir has helped preserve and promote the local musical heritage through concerts and performances at different events.

Step inside a Historical Kitchen, where you can discover the ingredients used during the Middle Ages to prepare the different dishes you will be able to taste. Experience what it was like to be a medieval doctor by visiting the field hospital of the Knights Hospitaller.
In the Patio de los Sitios, next to the Batería steps, you will find the stables of the horses belonging to the distinguished Garci-López and Pacheco knights, who will face each other in the jousts of the Golden City Tournament, together with their military tent.

A spectacular display featuring eagles, ravens, owls, falcons, barn owls, kestrels, Harris’s hawks and many more species will take place.
You will enjoy one of the most complete exhibitions, experiencing the unusual and unforgettable sensation of being close to such a diverse and magnificent group of birds. A unique adventure with some very special companions.
You will learn about their characteristics while enjoying their fascinating flights. The activity forms part of an educational and bird-of-prey recovery project designed to bring people closer to wild nature through expert knowledge, care and respect.
Some of the birds you will be able to see include:
Rapax eagle, Harris’s hawks, red-tailed hawk, Eurasian eagle-owl, Bengal eagle-owl,
barn owl, hybrid falcon, saker falcon, peregrine falcon, ravens and turkey vultures.
Members of the public will also have the opportunity to hold different birds of prey on a gloved fist, see them up close and take an unforgettable photograph.

The Alcandora Group is a musical ensemble from Ciudad Rodrigo recognised for its careful recovery and reinterpretation of traditional and folk music. Its repertoire ranges from the Spanish Popular Songs collected and arranged by Federico García Lorca and La Argentinita to ancient and traditional pieces performed with great respect for tradition and with a distinctive style full of freshness and sensitivity.

Location: Between Puente Mayor and the athletics track
Do you have a medieval costume, or have you rented one? Then do not miss the opportunity to take an active part by accompanying King Alfonso XI and María of Portugal on their arrival in the city. Participation is open to the public, and everyone wearing suitable period clothing is invited and encouraged to join the parade.

21:00. GRAND TORCHLIGHT PARADE OF KING ALFONSO XI AND QUEEN MARÍA OF PORTUGAL ON THEIR ARRIVAL IN THE CITY
Route: Puente Mayor, Puerta de Santiago, San Juan Street, Plaza Mayor, Sánchez Arjona, Juan Arias and Plaza del Castillo
King Alfonso XI of Salamanca and his consort, the Portuguese Queen María of Portugal, arrive in the Golden City accompanied by a retinue of squires, falconers, archers, nobles and knights, together with musicians and dancers who bring joy to the procession. The people of Ciudad Rodrigo join the royal entourage to celebrate their arrival.
ON THE ARRIVAL OF THE KING AND QUEEN AT PUERTA DE SANTIAGO, THEY WILL BE WELCOMED BY THE CITY MAGISTRATE. AFTERWARDS, AT THE CASTLE, THE ROYAL ACCLAMATION AND CONFIRMATION OF THE CITY CHARTER WILL BE PROCLAIMED FROM THE KEEP.
To celebrate the proclamation, the musicians will perform their finest compositions while the dancers entertain the audience.

Astrolabio consists of eight musicians from Ciudad Rodrigo who cover much of the orchestral sound spectrum with percussion, clarinets, flutes, cello and violin.
During their concerts you will hear original film soundtracks as well as compositions inspired by Celtic music.
Some pieces evoke the echoes of ancient castles where royal courts enjoyed lavish banquets, while other faster and more cheerful pieces recall the taverns where ordinary people relaxed after a hard day’s work.
Together they create a magical atmosphere that enriches the festive and nostalgic character of the fair.

Prepare to experience pure magic. Malatitsch presents a unique show combining theatre, circus, music and fire in a spectacular production. Its fantastic characters, medieval aesthetic and astonishing visual effects transform every square into a stage where anything can happen.
The experience is completed by live music from Manuk, bringing rhythm, power and a medieval atmosphere, together with the energetic dances of D´Way. A joint performance that turns the show into a true feast for the senses.

This is the most important show of the entire event, as the story performed here forms the central theme around which the whole Medieval Fair revolves.
The ninth edition of La Conjura is completely new and full of humorous touches. It tells the story of events that took place in Ciudad Rodrigo during the 14th century.
It explores 300 years of conflict between the influential Garci López de Chaves family and the powerful Pacheco family.
In this production, Ciudad Rodrigo becomes the setting for betrayals, sieges and the courageous resistance of the city.

Learn about these magnificent birds while enjoying their spectacular flights in an educational project focused on the recovery and protection of birds of prey.
Some of the birds you will see include:
Rapax eagle, Harris’s hawks, red-tailed hawk, Eurasian eagle-owl, Bengal eagle-owl,
barn owl, hybrid falcon, saker falcon, peregrine falcon, ravens and turkey vultures.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to hold birds of prey on a gloved fist and take an unforgettable photograph.

Guided tour of the Convent of San Francisco to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. An opportunity to discover the history, heritage and connection of this emblematic site with the saint.

18:30. PARADE OF THE QUEEN DOÑA TERESA KNIGHTS’ TOURNAMENT
Route: Parador entrance → Plaza del Castillo → Plaza Mayor → Rúa del Sol → Jardines de Bolonia. Route: HERE
The drums beat, the bagpipes sound and the crowd cheers as the knights pass. The dancers celebrate, because the Golden City Tournament is about to begin. Everyone wants to accompany their knights to the arena. If you meet them along the way, follow them or you may miss the spectacular battles that will decide which family dominates this year.
18:45. QUEEN DOÑA TERESA KNIGHTS’ TOURNAMENT
Wild Cöa + Rodericus
Location: Jardines de Bolonia
The entire fair revolves around the rivalry between the two families, and by this point you may already have chosen which house you support.
The time has come for the knights to settle their differences. The IV Golden City Knights’ Tournament begins, with knights on foot and horseback ready to face one another using swords, lances, shields and horses.
It will be a true battle to determine the champion family.
You cannot stay on the sidelines. Whether you support the Pacheco or the Garci-López, this is the moment to show your colours and cheer on your side.
The spectacle is guaranteed.
20:00. CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE 9TH MEDIEVAL FAIR
Featuring all participating groups

Enjoy a spectacular finale with music from BCT Esperanza, Cornalusa, Corvus D´el Rey, Gaitas Sirigaitas and Manuk; be amazed by the spectacular medieval dances of D´Way and feel the excitement of the acrobatics and circus arts of Malatitsch.
A grand final show to say goodbye to the fair with music, dance, rhythm and excitement.
